    Hi,

this is Jan from Germany. Read some articels of your blog after my decision to take the right pill.

I love the picture of the two old hands reaching both pills. Do you know where I can get it in a good quality?

Would really appreciate your helping hand…

    Best wishes

  3. Hi, I have just read your article on informal lease extensions. I am sadly one of the naive people you mentioned. My lease has a doubling clause every year for the first 30 years, then is is reviewed agains RPI every 5 years after that. There is 95 years on the lease. I am coming to terms with the fact i cannot sell my flat. I feel totally devastated by what was a very very foolish mistake, but with the RPI clause every 5 years i realise renegotiating and compensation for the lease with be a ridiculous sum which could even go into the millions. I realise i signed a binding agreement, but are you aware of anyone successfully contesting something like this. The person i negotiated with bullied and cajoled me into the agreement and i did nots eek proper legal advice, i suspect i do not have a leg to stand on.

      Hi Alexandra

I’m sorry to hear about your lease.

Don’t feel too bad that you accepted their offer though, freeholders are very clever in the way they frame these offers and you would have to have a very good working knowledge of the leasehold system to be able to fully calculate the future implications of the offer.

You legally can’t contest what you have signed and agreed in your lease but there are some things you can do. I am very happy to see if I could help you (free of charge) if you email info@leaseholdsolutions.com with a bit more detail and mention you spoke to Louie I will see what I can do. We have an in-house legal and valuers firm.

I doubt it would cost anything close to the figure you have mentioned to rectify this and please don’t despair there are ways out of what they have done to you.

I spoke to a lady a couple of days ago who had heard me speak about informal lease extensions on Radio 4 and she had just bought a flat will a similar ground rent schedule as you and her solicitor didn’t tell her what the future implications of it were!

      All the best

      Louie

  4. Thank you very much for your swift and kind response Louie. I will be sending you an email shortly.

I’m totally astounded by how the leasehold system work, and how ruthless those people involved seem to be, very harsh lesson learned.

    All the best
    Alex
